Training on Baikonur: Crews MKS-66 are preparing for flight

Today, September 27, 2021, on the 17th platform of the Baikonur cosmodrome, a traditional day of the press was held, the format of which in recent years has suffered changes due to sanitary restrictions caused by the threat of coronavirus spread. They recorded the bright moments of theoretical and practical classes with the participation of the main crew of the ISS-66 (Cosmonaut of Roscosmos Anton Spaceler, the participants of the cosmic flight Kim Shipenko and Julia Peresilde), as well as their doubles – Oleg Artemyev, Alexey Dudina and Alena Mordovina.

Today the crews performed training tasks on the manual rapprochement of the Soyuz ship with the International Space Station on a functional multi-purpose stand, and also studied onboard documentation. Preparing for the effects of space flight factors, astronauts and participants in the space flight are engaged in Coriolis acceleration chairs and participate in hemodynamic training at orthost rack in accordance with a specific scheme developed in the CPC. Considerable attention is paid to physical training. Under the supervision of doctors, cosmonauts and flight participants are trained on the treadmill and a bicycle ergometer, work on power simulators, are engaged in general physical training. Free time they are devoted to playings in chess, checkers, table tennis, darts and billiards.

At the end of the day, the crew of the ISS-66 took part in traditional events on the Alley of Cosmonauts. The one who is first going to fly, plant a tree. Today it was film director Klim Shipenko and Actress Julia Peresilde. And already flying astronauts take care of the trees that they landed before their first space starts.

Start of the Soyuz-2.1A carrier missile with a transport piloted ship “Union MS-19” and the crew of an ISS-66 expedition scheduled for October 5, 2021 from the starting site No. 31 of the Baikonur cosmodrome. During the flight to the ISS, a scientific and educational project “Call” will be implemented.
