According to the investigation Bureau, in comparison with 2019, the number of crimes with the use of violence in the United States in 2020 increased by 5.6 percent. At the same time, property crimes decreased by 7.8 percent. This indicator, according to the FBI statistics, is reduced by 18 years in a row.
However, the number of violent crimes amounted to 387.8 cases per 100 thousand US citizens. In just 2020, 1,277,696 violent crimes were committed. Of these, the frequency of murders and unintentional murders grew by 29.4 percent, and the amount of rape decreased by 12 percent.
According to FBI estimates, US law enforcement agencies across the country for 2020 produced 7.6 million arrests. At 100 thousand inhabitants, 147.9 arrest was produced for violent and 267.3 arrests for property crimes. At the same time, in 2020 in the United States, according to official data, 33 police officers died in execution, which corresponds to the 2019 indicators.
