Berliners wanted to nationalize housing fund

More than half of the inhabitants of Berlin during the nationwide survey in support of the initiative of the nationalization of the Housing Fund. It is reported by RBB24.

A similar survey on the nationalization of housing in possession of private business, organized a civilian initiative group “German housing and partners”. It takes about a company that owns 110 thousand apartments in the city. The idea of nationalization again began to promote after the decision of the Constitutional Court, which in the spring of 2021 called the Unconstitutional Law of the Federal Republic of Germany, which limits the increase in the cost of rental housing.

1.8 million people took part in the CEC in the survey. According to preliminary data, 56 percent of respondents wanted to nationalize the housing foundation, and 39 percent of respondents opposed.

A nationwide survey conducted in the form of a voting on the project is not mandatory for the authorities. Anti-nationalization is almost all parties except left and green, which I consider to nationalize the extreme measure.

Previously, Berlin’s authorities agreed to redeem 14.7 thousand apartments from the largest landlords of Germany. The protests of angry citizens against overpriced rental rates forced the administration to enter into a $ 2.9 billion transaction. Previously, rental rates in Germany were among the lowest in Europe, but in the past few years, prices have grown sharply, and the affordable housing has become a sharp political problem.
