President of Serbia Alexander Wuchich announced the readiness of the country to act in case the situation in Kosovo will exacerbate. He stated this on TV PINK, RIA Novosti reports.
Vucić noted that Serbia did not raise the army and the police, but only increased their readiness. He explained that the Serbian forces were not included in Kosovo, because “no right to do this” in accordance with the 1999 Cumanovo Agreement and the subsequent decisions behind it.
The President confirmed that Serbia does not plan to introduce troops into Kosovo, in a conversation with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. According to him, the Serbian side does not want to “jeopardize the world in any way,” since it is “the world most of all.” “We will wait for you 24 hours so that you are reacted as NATO. And only if after this will continue the pogrom of our population, Serbia will respond and will not allow what was in the 1990s and in 2004,” concluded Vucich.
On September 23, Kosovo special forces officers beat three Serbs on the “Brunik” checkpoint. It is reported that men rode the firewood when their car stopped the Kosovo police. The victims were taken to the hospital, one of the Serbs told that she did not understand why such measures were applied to them.
Before that, the Kosovo police and special forces under the cover of snipers occupied border crossings “Yarin” and “Brunik” in the north of the region. At the same time, Pristina issued a decree, according to which cars entering the self-proclaimed republic must change their numbers to Kosovo.
Almost immediately, border crossings gathered peaceful protests of Serbs. In response, Kosovo’s special forces applied tear gas, but completely dispersed the demonstrators failed. The authorities in Belgrade demanded from the Kosovo police to leave the border with Serbia. The Serbian side noted that Kosovoians do not fulfill the conditions of the peace agreement. Serbia called on the European Union to resolve this conflict.
