German President with his wife voted in elections

President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier voted in the elections to the Bundestag. Reports about it “Interfax”.

His wife Elka Shuddadder came together with Steinmeier. The president and spouse voted at the polling station at the School in the West of Berlin.

In Germany at 8:00 am local time September 26 (9:00 Moscow), polling stations were opened for elections to Bundestag. According to the results of the marginal voting, a new government will also be formed led by the new Chancellor. The acting Chancellor of Angela Merkel is not involved in the election.

In the elections, just over 60 million Germans will be able to participate. The country uses a mixed electoral system, combining the majority and proportional principles. Half of the Bundestag deputies is elected in 299 constituent districts by direct voting, the other – on party lists.
