Lavrov said absence of consent of leading powers on principles of world order

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that broad cooperation in the United Nations is particularly in demand in conditions in which the leading powers have no consent regarding the principles of the world order. He stated this in the course of the general political discussion at the UN General Assembly, RIA Novosti reports.

The minister indicated that the meeting in the GA hall symbolizes the restoration of a normal dialogue interrupted with the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic. He stressed that the organization should play a global policy of the role of the coordinator, discontinuing its potential “universal versatility and legitimacy.”

Lavrov added that the world grows the number of cross-border threats, there are numerous foci of regional tensions, which also destabilize the situation. According to him, it is obvious to Russia that it is possible to resist this only in strict accordance with the generally accepted regulations of world law.

“by and large, we have no other choice: the wide collaboration of the United Nations is especially in demand now, when the number of problems on the global agenda continues to grow. The right of strong is increasingly trying to apply against the power of law. Among the leading powers there is no agreement on the principles of the world order” , – said Lavrov.

Earlier, the Russian Foreign Minister stated that the idea of ​​the United States to hold a “summit of democracies” in essence proclaims the new “crusade” against all disagreements. “Participants, of course, Washington will define himself, assigning themselves the right to determine the degree of conformity to the country to democratic standards,” the minister stressed.
