Creator of first atomic submarine of USSR died

One of the creators of the first Soviet atomic submarine K-3 “Leninsky Komsomol”, the chief designer of the Malachite design bureau of Radiy Shmakov died in the 91st year of life. This is reported on Thursday, September 23, on the site of the submariner club, in which he was an honorary member.

“The Council of the Club of submariners expresses deep condolences to the family and Konia Anatolyevich colleagues,” the text says.

Schmakov graduated from the Leningrad Shipbuilding Institute in 1954 and began working at the Special Design Bureau No. 143 (now “Malachite”) engineer, since 1958 – Head of the Sector. He was awarded the orders of the October Revolution and twice the Order of the Labor Red Banner, in 1981 he received the USSR State Prize, and in 1997 he became a winner of the Russian Government Prize in the field of science and technology.
