In Europe, they demanded to place armed forces independently of NATO and United States

The European Union (EU) should be able to independently place the armed forces where the United States and NATO cannot intervene. This was stated by the EU Supreme Representative on Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrel, reports TASS.

According to him, Europe should act independently and “post troops in the same manner in which Americans do.” At the same time, Borrel stressed that the strengthening of European states should not cause anxiety from a military unit.

“The stronger Europe is, the stronger NATO will be, since we are part of it. The military capabilities of Europe are an addition for NATO, not an alternative to him,” the EU Supreme Representative said.

Earlier Borrel said that the European Union intends to expand its presence in the Indo-Pacific region in response to a military alliance Aukus prisoner between the United States, Great Britain and Australia. According to him, the EU needs to work on the expansion of its strategic autonomy and strengthen political and defense relations in the region.

Chairman of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Lyien also called on European states to speed up the creation of their own military bloc in order not to rely on the United States in the defense sphere. In her opinion, the Union must have a political will to independently use military tools to participate in international affairs without the help of the United States and NATO.
