In Uzbekistan, law enforcement officers caught a group of people suspected of extremist religious activities. This is reported on the site of the local branch of the Internal Affairs Directorate (GUVD).
According to the department, 27 people were detained by the security forces during the large-scale special operation of the “safe zone”, which at the same time passed in the city of Nurafshan, as well as in the Akhanharan and the Bashkent region. Currently, they are celebrated in the prosecutor’s office, the investigation is underway for the legal assessment of the dedicated acts and bring them to justice.
The threat of extremist activities in the countries of Central Asia has increased significantly after the withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan and the capture there by the authorities of the Radical Movement “Taliban” (prohibited in Russia). The most vulnerable States are Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, bordering Afghanistan.
Earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan (MIA) reported that in the country for religious extremism and terrorism only in September was caught 51 people. In the Ministry of Internal Affairs, they were suspected of creating the cells of the terrorist organization “Hizb ut-Tahrir Al-Islami” (prohibited in Russia).
On September 22, the Federal Fleelness Service of Russia detained in Ekaterinburg participants of the extremist cell, which incorporated migrants to terrorism.
