First Soviet Atomic Submarine arrived in Petersburg

The first nuclear submarine (APL) of the USSR arrived in St. Petersburg. Submarine K-3 “Lenin Komsomol” will be restored. After that, the K-3 will be scented in the tourist and recreational cluster “Forts Island”. It is reported by “Russian Gazeta”.

Specialists will bring submarine from the floating dock “Sviyaga”. After that, the submarine will turn into the central exhibit of the “island of forts”. According to TASS, earlier on “Northern shipyard” have already begun the implementation of the project to transform the APL into the museum exhibit.

So, in the Museum of Naval Glory in Kronstadt, it is necessary to prepare a concrete basis on which the submarine will be installed. After that, experts renovate a lightweight hull and inner parts of the submarines.

Snorkeeper K-3 “Lenin Komsomol” project 627 “KIT” is the first Soviet nuclear submarine. In August 1957, K-3 descended into water. Lenin Komsomol brought out of the Northern Fleet in 1991. Initially, the boat was planned to turn into a floating museum, but later it was decided to dispose of K-3. In 2015, it became known that submarine would be able to maintain as a museum exhibit.

Previously, the representative of the Central Design Bureau of Marine Equipment (CKB MT) “Rubin” Andrei Baranov spoke about the peculiarities of the Russian submarine type “Warshavyanka”.
