Roskosmos State Corporation and the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) recommended that the government proposal to create a new Russian orbital service station (Ross), which should replace the International Space Station (ISS) by 2028. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the press service of the state corporation.
“Following the meeting, the Presidium and the Bureau recommended the state corporation” Roskosmos “to submit proposals to the Government of the Russian Federation on the need to develop Ross and on the procedure for conducting negotiations with partners in the ISS project on issues related to ensuring the final stage of the functioning of the Russian Segment of the ISS,” reported in the department.
It is assumed that Ross will become an “evolutionary step” in the development of the technologies for the development of the Moon and Mars. It will allow you to develop and implement innovative scientific and technological programs and applied experiments in space.
Complete operation of the ISS is scheduled for 2028. By this time, Roscosmos intends to launch a Russian orbital station to work. In early September, the head of Roskosmos, Dmitry Rogozin, stated that it was planned to start the deployment of the Russian orbital service station in five to six years. The base of her will be a scientific and energy module (NAM), which was originally planned to send to docking from the ISS in 2025. To work as part of Ross, the module will finalize what may require about two years.
