Thousands of people left the distant city of Tantlange in the west of Myanmar because of hostilities between military junta and dissidents. This is reported by France 24 from the words of local residents.

In the city there was a clash between the hundreds of rebels and government troops. During the battle, according to eyewitnesses, the soldiers began to lead a random fire on the windows of the houses, and after – to bomb the city. As a result, the settlement practically empty, its inhabitants were covered in neighboring villages.

7.5 thousand people lived in Tantlange. “I never thought about running out of my own house, even after the military bombed him,” said one of the citizens. He added that he still had to leave, because “things became worse.”

Tantlanga is located in Chin, where active battles are currently running between the junta and resistance. From May 2021, the Government applies artillery against local rebels, and also blocked the water supply in the region. According to observers, since the coup in February 2021, 1.1 thousand civilians were killed in Chin, another 8 thousand people were arrested. It is reported that the flow of refugees running to neighboring India is growing at the border with the state.
