Today, September 21, 2021, a joint meeting of the Presidium of the Scientific and Technical Council of the Roskosmos State Corporation and the Bureau of the Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences on Space took place in the video conferencing. At the meeting, a number of critical areas related to the implementation of the Space Program of the Russian Federation were considered.
The first direction is associated with obtaining scientific data on space, land and other celestial bodies for the development of fundamental science, achieving and maintaining leading positions in the most significant directions. The second direction in turn is due to the continuation of the domestic manned program in the near-emblem space, ensuring the effective and safe conduct of work and research on orbital stations.
Meeting approved proposals on the research program on board the Russian automatic interplanetary station “Luna-25”, confirming the relevance and high scientific importance of the tasks of the project. In addition, it was noted that the Russian segment of the International Space Station, which is the basis of domestic manned cosmonautics, operates in orbit for more than 20 years.
At the meeting, the proposal of the Rocket and Space Corporation “Energy” named after S.P. The queen (part of the state corporation “Roscosmos”) on the deployment of works in the framework of the creation of a national piloted space complex at a low near-earth orbit – a Russian orbital service station, which will ensure the continuous use of near-earth space infrastructure. It should be an evolutionary step in developing typical technologies to ensure the program of studying and mastering the moon, flights to Mars and the implementation of innovative scientific and technological programs and applied experiments in space. In addition, members of the Council noted the need to use the potential of the Eastern cosmodrome and work on it to create the necessary infrastructure.
Following the meeting, the Presidium and the Bureau recommended Roskosmos State Corporation to submit proposals to the Government of the Russian Federation on the need to develop a Russian orbital station station, the continuation of the Russian segment of the International Space Station for the period of establishment of the station’s news and on the procedure for negotiations with the MKS project partners on issues related to ensuring the final phase of the functioning of the Russian segment of the ISS.
