Tests of oxidant tank for new Rocket “Soyuz-5”

In the Progress Rocket and Space Center (Samara, it is part of the state corporation “Roskosmos”) successfully carried out static tests of the prototype of the oxidizing agent of the first stage of the stand-block of the prospective rocket carrier “Soyuz-5” before destruction.

The test results confirmed the strength of the oxidizing agent of the bench block of the first stage of the Soyuz-5 missile, designed for cold and firing tests. In addition, the calculated techniques for conducting mass optimization of aircraft tanks with an accuracy of 3-5% were confirmed.

A promising two-stage medium-class rocket “Soyuz-5” is developed in order to ensure the launches of automatic spacecraft on solar-synchronous, high-elliptical, geopheffect and geostationary orbits, including using acceleration blocks. As part of the rocket “Soyuz-5” new engines will be used.

Magic engine of the first stage of the RD-171 MV of the development of the Scientific and Production Association “Energomash” named after Academician V.P. Glushko (Khimki, enters Roscosmos) and the engine of the second stage of the RD-0124 MS of the development of the Voronezh Design Bureau of Himavtomatics (enters Roscosmos) ensure the characteristics on the fuel pair of oxygen – naphthyl, close to the maximum. The launches of the new carrier missile are planned from the Baikonur cosmodrome within the framework of the Russian-Kazakhstan project “Baiterek”.
