The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has been responsible for the death of the former FSB employee Alexander Litvinenko on the Russian state. This is stated in a press release on the site of the court.
The judges came to the conclusion that the Russian side did not provide the necessary materials to the investigation and did not conduct a fairly careful independent investigation. This is considered a violation of international conventions, and therefore Moscow is prescribed to pay compensation in the amount of 100 thousand euros, as well as compensate for the widow Litvinenko Marina, who submitted a complaint, court costs – 22.5 thousand euros.
The court decree states that the investigation has a good evidence of the murder of Litvinenko, to which two Russians are involved – Andrei Lugovoye and Dmitry Kovtun. It is reported about “sufficiently good evidence” what they acted on behalf of the Russian state.
