Police Prague for the third time suggested to bring to the criminal responsibility of the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Andrei Babisha. This is reported by TASS with reference to the press secretary of the prosecutor’s office of Prague Alyosha Zimbala.
Criminal case on frauds with the illegal receipt of subsidies from the EU funds by the Nest of Aista, which was included in the Agrofert holding and belonging to Babishe’s relatives, entered the prosecutor’s office after the deracement. The charges are nominated against the Czech premier and his former Yana Mier’s Assistant. According to the investigation, they illegally received about 2 million euros.
It is noted that the investigation of the company continued for three years and was completed in 2019. At the same time, mass protests were passed in the country demanding to send Babisha to resign. In turn, Babish rejects accusations and considers them to provociate by political opponents. According to the prime minister, the case is “trying to revive” before the upcoming parliamentary elections in the Czech Republic, which will be held on October 8 and 9.
Andrei Babish is held by the post of Prime Minister since 2017. Before that he headed the Ministry of Finance of the Czech Republic and was the first deputy chairman of the Czech government since 2014. The scandal with the participation of the “Aist’s nest” led to his resignation from the post of Minister of Finance.
