However, such a decision caused discontent among American lawmakers and military. “In essence, they simply placed all these Afghans on a suicide list,” said the official of the Ministry of Defense.
Earlier, the Taliban stated that they would be allowed to evacuate civilians and after August 31. The official representative of the movement Zabilella Mujahid noted that the previously introduced restrictions on evacuation concern only the withdrawal of American troops from the country.
On August 15, the Taliban announced that Afghanistan was completely under their control. It happened after capturing Kabul. The militants managed to subordinate most of the country and all major cities in a few weeks.
