Press Secretary of the White House Jen Psaki stated that the United States will cease diplomatic presence in Afghanistan after August 31. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
Psaki also noted that after the specified date, Washington will continue to work on evacuation from Afghanistan Americans, citizens of third countries and local residents with visas who will not have time to leave the Afghan territory. She emphasized that Washington will continue to coordinate with international partners to determine the further path to continue the export of people.
Earlier it was reported that the “Taliban” movement (prohibited in Russia) appealed to the United States with a request to leave their diplomats in Afghanistan after the withdrawal of American troops from the country. According to The Washington Post, in the case of approval of this decision in Kabul, the American embassy was likely to be opened again, which stopped working in connection with the evacuation of dipperson.
