Afghanistan can turn into a battlefield between the Islamic state (the IG, prohibited in Russia, the organization) and the “Taliban” movement (the organization prohibited in Russia). This was announced in an interview with the newspaper Messaggero, the former Italian ambassador to Pakistan and the NATO Mission Coordinator in Kabul Stefano Pontecorvo (Stefano Pontecorvo).
“As for the airport, I suppose that this is a single excess. However, I have concerns that in the medium term Kabul can be a battlefield between the” Taliban “and IG,” said Pontecorvo, commenting on the circumstances of the terrorist attack. He said that on the line of special services Taliban passed information about the preparing explosions. The Italian diplomat is confident that the main goal of terrorist attacks from the IG is to remind themselves. He also believes that the explosions and killing of anyone in Afghanistan were shocked: “This is almost the image of their lives, the Afghans do not get used to them.”
With regard to the ability of the Taliban, suppress the underground IS Pontecorvo is extremely skeptical. “The whole institutional structure has collapsed here. Tale is trying to restore it, but it will take time. They simply do not have enough people to control the territory,” the diplomat noted, adding that NATO countries wait for the Taliban of reliable control over Afghanistan and stability.
Diplomat believes that all incidents are possible until the end of evacuation, but the North Atlantic Alliance intends to evacuate all Afghans who collaborated with the International Coalition. Summarizing, Pontecorvo expressed confidence that departure from Afghanistan was extremely timely.
The evacuation of Afghans and the remaining citizens of Western countries continues after a series of explosions that occurred on August 26. As a result of the terrorist attacks, at least 100 people were killed, more than a thousand were injured. Responsibility for the attack took “Vilayat Horacean” – the Central Asian branch of the grouping “Islamic State”.
