Russia: created a machine gun “Maxim” with autonomous

Moskovsky Plant “Proton” created a machine gun “Maxim” with autonomy. The presented sample is a concept demonstrating the capabilities of the automatic guidance system, reports TASS.

At the plant’s stand was placed by a machine gun layout, which played a significant role in the history of Russia. It was complemented by modern auto equipment. The concept is intended to demonstrate the possibilities of automatic guidance of weapons on a visual image, the Deputy General Director for Production of the Proton Plant Dmitry Shakhvorostov noted.

For aiming, the camera is used, which recognizes the image, and after captures it, tiping the weapon. According to Shahvorostov, the system can be configured under a certain purpose, setting the parameters of the contour or silhouette, face or car.

Now promising development is not in service. In case of interest from potential customers, the system can be submitted for specific requirements. After that, the auto station system can be part of the existing complexes, added shafts.

Zavod Proton JSC is developing radio-electronic equipment. As a stand for demonstrating the guidance system, the manufacturer chose one of the first samples of automatic weapons – the machine gun of the British gunsmith High Stevens Maxim, developed at the end of the 19th century. In 1904, a contract was signed for the production of Maxim machine gun in Russia. This weapon was used in most conflicts of the first half of the 20th century.
