Russia received new applications for the purchase of weapons from the countries of Central Asia against the background of the situation in neighboring Afghanistan. About this on the Forum “Army-2021” said the general director of Rosoboronexport Alexander Mikheev, RIA Novosti reports.
According to him, to sell helicopters, small arms and modern border security systems. These applications are practiced. Mikheev stressed that Russia is ready to help partners in Central Asia adequately respond to emerging threats.
Three days ago, August 23, Mikheev indicated that with the exacerbation of the situation because of the coming to power in Afghanistan “Taliban” (the organization’s activities are prohibited in Russia), Russia is ready to supply weapons to neighboring countries.
Taliban captured power in Afghanistan in August. After a short offensive, they entered Kabul, and the previous leadership of the country escaped abroad. A radical movement controls almost the entire territory of the country, with the exception of Panjscher province.
Evacuation continues from Kabul Airport. Taliban requires the process to be completed before September. In addition, members of the move accused countries of the West in the export of qualified specialists – including doctors and teachers.
In the country begins a full-scale crisis due to the emergence of the economy and problems with base goods. Against this background, the Taliban turned to Iran asking to increase the supply of fuel into the country. The problem of the new leadership remains the lack of funds. Most reserves of Afghanistan are outside the country, and international financial institutions stopped assistance.
