Russian physicists together with foreign colleagues from China, Germany and Australia created a meta-atom – a structure capable of generating energy inside itself and not emit it into the surrounding space. Briefly about the study published in the magazine Physical Review Letters, reported on a press release on the SUNUKI website.rf.
The basis of the meta-atom is the effect of anapple (toroidal dipole), that is, the configurations when electrical currents are circulated on the surface of the torus along its meridians. Waves that emit electrical currents are the same amplitude, but are opposed to phase and suppress each other in the far zone – areas of space surrounding the source of the wave, in which the density of the radiation energy flow is inversely proportional to the square of the distance from the source.
Scientists reviewed two types of unadial sources with anaplation effect. The researchers suggested that on the basis of this effect, it is possible to create a meta-atom that does not radiate energy to the far zone and concentrates it in the near zone. Two structures can be used in different ways depending on the preferred type of fields, electrical or magnetic. Unpoveably sources can be used as a means of wireless transmission of energy, non-contact chargers and sensors.
