FAS accused Apple in imposing users of unprofitable conditions

The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) accused Apple in the abuse of the dominant position in the distribution market of applications for iOS, issuing a company a warning about the inadmissibility of such actions. This is stated on the department website.

Corporation imposes unprofitable conditions to developers and prohibits informing users about the presence of an alternative more favorable way of payment for goods, consider it in the agency. There were complaints from developers and users.

“Applicants note that in some cases buy goods, for example, an e-book, cheaper on the seller’s website, and after – to start reading in the application on the iPhone or iPad, authorized under your account,” – noted in the FAS. This is due to the fact that Apple takes a commission from 15 to 30 percent from each payment in the App Store. Users cannot be informed about the possibility of purchases outside the App Store, emphasized in the department.

This negatively affects competition and can lead to the increase in prices for developers products. Eliminate violations The company must no later than September 30 of this year.

Earlier, Apple filed to the federal antimonopoly service of Russia because of a fine almost a billion rubles. FAS fined Apple on April 27.

The service has established that Apple abused the dominant position in the mobile application market for the IOS operating system. In the Russian department, they considered that Apple’s actions “led to the provision of competitive advantages by their own products,” that is, the company used its own monopolized position.
