As part of preparation for paired exits in open space No. 49 and No. 50, which are scheduled for 3 and 9 September 2021, respectively, the crew of the Russian segment of the International Space Station is preparing the necessary equipment and studies the program of the upcoming work.
The main task of the upcoming outputs is the integration of the multipurpose laboratory module “Science” to the Russian segment of the ISS through extracurricular activities. As part of these works during the 49th planned release on September 3, the astronauts of Roscosmos Oleg Novitsky and Peter Dubrov will have to pave and connect power cables to integrate the module into the general power supply system of the station and Ethernet cables to integrate the module into the cable network.
Today, the crew conducted work on the study of the on-board documentation, got acquainted with the cyclogram of the exit, video materials of working out operations in the hydrolaborator of the Center for the Training of Cosmonauts named after Yu.A. Gagarin, Tsuspenters along the outer surface of the station and work areas on the outer surface of the ISS.
The Russian crew has also prepared the tools necessary for the pair access to open space, since some tasks for CCS No. 49 and No. 50 are combined. Oleg and Peter prepared for the exit of the “Orlin ISS” Spack, setting the necessary interchangeable elements of the equipment on them. In the near future, the crew will hold onboard training in the CPD No. 49 and No. 50 in the SPACANDS on certain upcoming operations on maquet and staff equipment exhibiting on the Russian station segment.
