In many NATO countries, including the US military leadership and intelligence community, there is a temptation to return to Afghanistan. This was stated by the Special Representative of the President of Russia in Afghanistan, director of the Second Asian Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Zamir Kabulov on Youtube-channel “Soloviev Live”.
According to Kabulov, there are many people in American military leaders who oppose the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan, who were ready to remain there “ten more or another” “by virtue of a number of reasons, pure selfish, and not state interests.”
At the same time, the diplomat doubted that in the current situation they would return there, because “awareness is still, apparently, it came that this war is not only lost that it is impossible to win it.” Kabulov added that “any attempt to repeat the previous error will cost them much more.”
Earlier, Kabulov said that the militants of the Radical Movement “Taliban” (a terrorist organization, prohibited in Russia) will not try to export their ideology to the countries of Central Asia, as they learned the “lesson of 20 years ago.” According to him, the Taliban made for themselves “defined conclusions from history.” Kabulov called the encouraging signal including the process of forming a temporary new leadership and the announcement of its composition.
May 1 began the official conclusion of US troops and the North Atlantic Alliance countries from the Afghan territories. After that, the situation in the country aggravated. On August 15, the militants “Taliban” (a terrorist movement prohibited in Russia) announced the establishment of control throughout Afghanistan. Currently, the country’s management is under the Provisional Council, which later will give the power of the Taliban.
