Deputy Chairman of the State Border Committee of Belarus Roman Vilinev said RIA Novosti that Minsk attracted the protection of borders with the European Union Armed Forces and Internal Forces.
Additional forces, he noted, are designed to help border guards in solving problems to curb external threats. Vilinev clarified that the protection system of the Belarusian state border is rebuilt in such a way as to prevent the weapons, drugs and smuggling goods to enter the country, as well as stop the penetration of radical groups and other violators trying to illegally enter the territory of the republic.
The deputy head of the Committee added that such measures to enhance the security are also adopted on the southern border of the country, but so far Belarusian border guards are coping with their own forces.
The migration crisis at the borders of Belarus and the EU began at the end of May. Large groups of migrants from the countries of the Middle East and Africa began to storm the boundaries of Lithuania for asylum in European countries. Later illegals began to detain on the borders of Latvia and Poland and return back. European countries are accused of inconsider Minsk and personally president of Alexander Lukashenko.
