A million people were affected due to leakage of toxic substances from diamond mine

In the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) in Central Africa about a million people affected by the leakage of toxic substances into the river from the largest diamond mine Catoca in Angola. This reports “Bi-bi-si”, citing local authorities.

According to the publication, due to poisoning 12 people were killed and more than 4 million seriously ill. Region Administration has banned citizens to drink water and eat fish caught from the river, but the victims could not be avoided. The total number of victims reaches one million. It is noted that the mine administration has not responded to the accident.

Earlier it was reported that the five-year boy, was evacuated from Afghanistan to Poland, died from poisoning poisonous mushrooms. An Afghan child was in a refugee camp near Warsaw together with relatives. Doctors have not been able to help the boy, as he recorded the irreversible brain damage.
