Britain: theft of domestic animals wanted to equate to a criminal offense

The Great Britain’s authorities were offered to equate theft of a pet for a criminal offense. It is reported by ROYA News with reference to the report made by the government target group on theft of domestic animals.

According to the publication, at the moment British law enforcement agencies regard the abduction of animals as the owner’s owner loss. However, the Ministry of the Environment wanted to start considering pets as more than property.

The Minister of Internal Affairs of the United Kingdom of Suit Palel noted that the possibility of criminal punishment will provide the police a new tool for the persecution of intruders. “The domestication of a pet is a terrible crime that can cause a big mountain family, while criminals are trying to prove it,” she stressed.

It is noted that against the background of restrictive measures in connection with the coronavirus pandemic in Britain increased demand for pets. This provoked an increase in the number of theft for the purpose of subsequent sale. According to a report of a special group, seven of ten thefts recorded by the police concerned the dogs. Prices for some popular breeds have increased by 89 percent compared with the market to a pandemic.
