Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Moscow will increase the number of their diplomatic confedets abroad. This is reported on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to him, Russia is now 250 embassies and consulates of the world. Lavrov said that Moscow is currently working on the consular presence in Sharm-Esheich and Hurghada. Also, the Minister announced the need to “strengthen the Thai direction”. At the same time, he noted that Russia needs to expand its diplomatic presence in the CIS countries, where the Western embassies sometimes overtake Russian long-standing invalidation of quantitative composition in two or three times.
Earlier, US Ambassador to Russia John Sullivan said that the number of American diplomats working in Russia is not comparable to the number of Russian diplomacy officers in the United States. Sullivan drew attention to the greater imbalance in the number of diplomats in two states. “In Russia, 123 embassy employees work, and in the USA – 400 Russian diplomats distributed between the embassy, two consulates and post prunes in the UN. The numbers speak for themselves,” he stressed.
