The Central Bank of Germany on September 1 stated that the building of the institution was filled with damaged banknotes in the amount of more than 50 million euros ($ 59 million) after large-scale floods in July. The institution had to urgently dry cash bills. Reports about it AP.
In the German Federal Bank, they said that individuals and banks passed banknotes, soaked with water and partially evapricated oil and mud. Dried money is dried in a special center in Mainz. After drying, damaged banknotes smoothed, check and calculated. The Central Bank noted that it is important to process wet bills quickly, until they slipped and “not turned into concrete.” Specialists check the authenticity of banknotes and the size of their damage, and then the owners compensate for the lost amount, not an additional charge.
