In a statement on the company’s website it is said that the support of another OS will be discontinued on October 12, 2021. Microsoft experts recommended users to prepare for the transition to another version of Windows, as this will stop being updated. In addition to updates, the company will stop supplying safety patches for the system.

“for organizations that still use Windows Thin PC, Microsoft recommends thinking about switching to a newest remote desktop client,” the message says. Employees of companies enjoying a corporate license, programmers recommended contacting system administrators.

Windows Thin PC was represented on February 9, 2011. The operating system is a simplified version of the popular Windows 7 and does not have some functions. In turn, OS replaced Windows Fundamentals for Legacy PCS, based on Windows XP Embedded.

Currently, the current operating system from Microsoft is Windows 11, the release of which is scheduled for October 5. In mid-June, the end of the Windows Support Date 10 – October 14, 2025 became known.
