Netherlands mulling to ban fast food

The authorities of five major cities in the Netherlands wanted at the legislative level to prohibit the supply of harmful products to fast food restaurants and reduce the number of such places. This is reported by NL Times.

Austrum, Hague, Rotterdam, Utrecht and Ede made against Fastfud. Representatives of local administrations sent an appropriate letter to the State Secretary on Health, Welfare and Sports of the Plokhas. In it, they asked for broader powers regarding the regulation of the number of restaurants with a harmful meal.

According to the publication, at the moment the municipalities have very little opportunities to influence the food habits of the population and reduce the number of unhealthy products in the market. At the same time, the city authorities seek to strengthen the struggle against the problem of obesity, which is becoming more and more common in the Dutch.

In March, it was reported that the British suffering from obesity were offered a financial remuneration in exchange for weight loss. Prior to this, the British government announced that 100 million pounds of sterling on the campaign against obesity will allocate. Of these, more than 70 million will spend on the work of the National Health Service for Weight Control.
