Pakistan will temporarily close the main borderline “Chaman” on the border with Afghanistan because of the huge influx of refugees. It is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the statement of the Minister of Internal Affairs of Sheikh Rashid Ahmada.
According to him, the Pakistani authorities decided on such a step due to the threats of security. Ahmad stressed that in the checkpoint (CAT) “Spin Boldak – Chaman” are armed forces of the country.
In turn, CNN reports that the death rate formed in the Afghan-Pakistani border. Thousands of Afghans are trying to get to Pakistan. At least one person died.
According to eyewitnesses, huge refugee flows continue to move forward, pressing people to the border crossing building. At the border there are not only those who run from the Taliban (a terrorist organization prohibited in Russia), but also citizens of Pakistan.
Taliban representative Belly Karimi said that the militants are aware of the situation. They do everything possible to stop people and solve problems at the border.
The Government of Pakistan refuses to accept refugees. The authorities declare that they are already 3.5 million in the country.
Earlier, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Pakistan Sheikh Rashid Ahmad said that the country did not receive a single refugee from Afghanistan. “No one came to Pakistan as a refugee,” said the minister. According to him, this status was not provided to anyone. Ahmad noted that people from Afghanistan arrive every day to Pakistan through the Chaman’s Edge Point, and then return back, and called it “normal activity.”
