On Russian “Airplane of XXI century” did not have enough money

CEO of the State Transport Leasing Company (GTLC) Evgeny Dietrich declared the need for new subsidies for the initial period of operation of the Russian “aircraft of the XXI century” MS-21, RBC reports.

According to him, the allocated money is not enough for another important support measure – subsidizing the missing flight hours for MS-21. The fact is that at first a new plane will fly less than its design opportunities, so airlines need to compensate for the drop-down income.

According to Dietrich, GTLC has already started negotiations with the Ministry of Industry, and the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), the manufacturer of the liner. Commercial operation of MS-21 should start in the summer of 2022.

In the same interview, the head of GTLC suggested that Russia will refuse to purchase foreign aircraft for ten years. For this, the domestic industry should provide a branch of own vehicles comparable at cost and operational costs with foreign analogues.

As for the supply of MS-21 abroad, they decided to postpone them against the background with the promotion of SSJ-100. The liner will initially work on Russian companies “Aeroflot” and Red Wings. It is assumed that the liner will be able to compete with Boeing 737 Max and Airbus A320NEO.
