Special services in CIS strengthened vigilance due to situation in Afghanistan

Terrorist activity within Afghanistan can threaten the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). This is the head of the Anti-Terrorism Center (ATC) of the CIS Andrei Novikov told TASS.

he noted that, in addition to the Radical Movement of the Taliban (a terrorist organization prohibited in Russia), other international terrorist organizations operate in Afghanistan. Novikov stressed that they may not submit to international resolutions and the Taliban came to power. In his opinion, such groups may be a threat for neighboring states, including those included in the CIS.

The head of ATC also added that the counter-terrorist special services in the Commonwealth countries have increased vigilance and moved to high readiness mode due to the current situation in Afghanistan.

Previously, the representative of the Taliban Zabilella Mujahid announced the intention of the members of the movement to restore order in Afghanistan. He said that for this Taliban spend work in the legal, medical and banking sectors, as well as in the field of security.
