US President Joe Bayiden, who is the first Catholic in this post for more than 60 years, was raced against him because of the position of abortion policy. This reports Politico.
Biden is criticized by the Catholic conservatives since during the election campaign of 2020 in the final result opposed the so-called Heyd amendment, according to which abortions cannot be subsidized at the expense of the budget and which he supported throughout Almost 30-year-old careers. As the publication believes, it was this step in many ways provided him with a victory in the elections, but made him turn away from him conservative Catholics, considering abortions with immoral practice.
So, in February, Archbishop Joseph F. Naumann from Kansas City said that Biden must stop calling himself a “pious Catholic” and recognize that his view on abortions contradicts Catholic moral teaching. In April, Cardinal Raymond Berk called the American leader apostate. After that, in June, the US Catholic Bishops Conference, which is a collection of bishops and cardinals, during open debates presented a document that justifies the ban to take communion politicians advocating the ability to conduct abortions.
Once again, the criticism of the head of the White House was aggravated after he spoke about the bill that had entered into force in the state of Texas, which forbade women to make an abortion on the period of more than six weeks. Then Biden stated that such a law roughly violates the constitutional rights of American women, and promised to take “national efforts” to challenge it.
As noted by Politico, from the moment the president joins the position of President, disagreements between Biden and its units were noticeably increased. In particular, this was facilitated by the fact that he abolished restrictions on abortion introduced by its predecessor Donald Trump, and refused to include the reference to the Heyd amendment in the country’s budget. As a result, politician became popular among Catholics with more “left” beliefs. So, some of them considered that Biden can do to recognize abortions the same thing that at one time did the 44th US President Barack Obama for recognizing same-sex marriages.
At the same time, in the arrival of Biden in his native state of Delaware, the policy refused. Thus, after the presidential statements regarding the Texas bill at the Church of St. Joseph in Wilmington, where Biden regularly visits worship with his family, and protesters from his posters were gathered. In particular, they accused Bayden in the fact that he is a “Fake Catholic”.
Earlier in September, the law prohibiting women to make abortions for more than six weeks began to act in the US state of Texas. Its action applies even to those cases when pregnancy occurred as a result of rape or incest. At the same time, 85-90 percent of women usually make an abortion at later timing – thus this bill actually limited abortions in general.
