The decision of the deputies of the Moldova Parliament does not take part in the observation of elections to the State Duma in Russia because of the workload causes regret. This is reported by the former President of the Republic of Igor Dodon in its Telegram channel.
According to him, the rationale for refusal is contrived, and the current leadership of the country led by the President of Maya Sanda deliberately slows down the normalization of relations with Russia, despite the coming 20-year-old anniversary of the Friendship and Cooperation Treaty between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Moldova.
“It is not clear what” loaded agenda “is talking about and why on the trip to Romania in early September, the leadership of the parliament found a time to go in a wide range of Speaker [Igor] Grosu,” Dodon emphasized.
Former Moldavian leader recalled that in previous years, Moldova and Russia mutually sent observers to elections in different levels, which “corresponded to the constructive spirit of the multifaceted bilateral Moldavian-Russian agenda.” Therefore, he called on the authorities to abandon such a “demarche” for the improvement of interaction with Russia.
On August 3, the Organization for Safety and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) decided not to attend the elections in Russia due to the requirements to reduce the number of observers: from the Bureau of Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) and the Parliamentary Assembly (PA) may allow Only 50 and 10 people, respectively. Russian authorities explained that such a decision was taken as an epidemiological measure.
