Kyrgyzstan: sent to resign Minister of Defense

Cyrigise President Sadyr Zhaparov was a resigned Minister of Defense of the Republic of Talaybek Omuralieva. The corresponding decree was published on the website of the head of state.

According to the document, Omuraliev was released from office due to the transition to another job. At his place on the same day, Baktybek Beckbolotov was appointed, who previously led the Bishkek Machine-Building Plant. It is noted that he has the title of Colonel of the Armed Forces of Kyrgyzstan and was the commander of the Panfilov division, which remains as an active military unit in the modern army of the republic.

Omuraliev served as the head of the defense department of Kyrgyzstan from February 2021. He headed the ministry of defense of Kyrgyzstan from 2011 to 2014. In 2014, the military prosecutor’s office conducted an inspection of the distribution of office workers to the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff of the Armed Forces. According to her results, the case was initiated against the articles of the Criminal Code of Kyrgyzstan on the abuse of official position.

In 2017, the Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek acknowledged Omuralieva guilty of abuse by official powers and sentenced him to a fine of 5 million soms (4.8 million rubles). He was also deprived of the title of Major General. Later, in 2018, the judicial board in criminal cases of the Bishkek City Court revised the decision and returned to Omuralyvyv’s title.
