General Director of the Volkswagen Concern Herbert Diss expects that by 2035, internal combustion engines in European automotive production will come to an end. Correcting about the future of the automotive industry, Diss calls not electromotive, but drones “dark horse”, which will soon change the industry, transfers Reuters.
“Autonomous driving will really change our industry, more than ever,” said the head of Volkswagen before the official opening of the IAA International Motor Show in Munich. The diss spoke about the strengthening of environmental pressure on the automotive industry, recalling the EU plans to ban from 2035 sales of new cars with gasoline and diesel engines.
“By 2030, 85 percent of our business are cars, personal and rented. And about 15 percent should have to shuttles, transport services,” the Herbert Diss summed up. Earlier it was announced that the consortium led by Volkswagen by 2022 will complete a transaction for buying a French company for Europcar car rental for 2.5 billion euros.
A number of world automotive machines have already begun to switch to electrocars. According to Foxconn’s forecasts, by 2025, each fifth car sold in the world will be electric.
At the same time, some representatives of the industry, unlike Volkswagen, are in no hurry to refuse traditional cars. A number of companies made a sharp criticism of EU plans to ban the sale of cars with an internal combustion engine. Opponents of the environmental initiative stated that they would lobby it cancel at the level of national governments.
