Director General of the Estonian Health Department Yullar Lanno posted responsibility for spoiled vaccines from coronavirus and medicines worth more than three million euros (almost 260 million rubles) and quit. Reports about it ERR.
It is noted that Lanno was under pressure from the public after in June, a large number of drugs were spoiled in June on the refrigeration warehouse, including about 70 thousand doses of the coronavirus vaccine.
According to Lanno, he accepted the decision to resign independently, because he considers himself responsible for the incident. “Responsibility in this case cannot be assigned to anyone else, except for the leader,” he said. At the same time, the Minister of Health and Labor Tannel Kike said that the guides of the general director consist only that the standards and instructions for the storage of drugs were not adjusted after the change of the Department’s manual.
In February, 300 doses of the Astrazeneca vaccine were damaged during transportation to the Estonian children’s hospital. According to Lanno, the cause of what happened was the violation of the temperature regime, which deviated from the permissible range by two degrees.
