11 years ago, on September 6, 2021, the Space Center “Eastern” (a branch of the center of exploitation of land-based space infrastructure facilities is part of the state corporation “Roskosmos”) celebrates the 11th anniversary. It was on this day that in 2010 an order was signed on the creation of a branch then another FSUE “Center for exploiting objects of land cosmic infrastructure” – Space Center “East”.
The first stage of the work of the branch of Cennie was the preparation of ground-based space infrastructure. The starting complex for the “Soyuz-2” missile was commissioned in 2016. It is equipped with a unique mobile service tower: a 1600-ton design of 52 meters high allows you to carry out all work on the preparation for the start in the most difficult climatic conditions and provides a high level of security of workers. At the starting complex 83, construction of 45 thousand square meters. Only on the east, a stationary refueling system and an automated technological equipment control system are used. April 28, 2016 with the new starting complex for the launch missiles of the Soyuz-2 family, the first launch was successfully implemented – the “Soyuz-2.1a” rocket launched spacecraft “Lomonosov” spacecraft, “Aist-2D” and Samsat -218. Since 2021, the Eastern organizes a full cycle of work on the preparation and start-up of space assignment missiles.
Currently, the cosmodrome contains the construction of a second starting platform – the starting complex under the rocket carrier of the heavy class “Angara”. On the eve of the Eastern started to the second stage of installation of the starting table under a new rocket, the installation of metal conjunction was carried out. At the end of 2023, it is planned to carry out the launch of the Angara-A5 missile.
Eastern cosmodrome is equipped with the most modern equipment to ensure the launches of spacecraft. Today, the Eastern is the concentration of new technologies and promising deviations, an independent access to space from our country and an attractive place of work for young people from all over Russia.
