Head of the Committee on the Financial Market of the State Duma Anatoly Aksakov during a speech at the Moscow Financial Forum proposed to make a mandatory rate of biometrics when opening an account in a migrant bank, RIA Novosti reports.
According to him, such a measure will help to fight fraud. We are talking about cases when a foreigner deported outside the country, then he takes a passport of his brother, on which it looks outward, returns and starts working.
Aksakov stressed that biometrics will allow to stop such cases on the border. At the same time, he noticed that episodes, when one person issues himself for another, often happen.
Currently, the surrender of biometrics in Russian banks is voluntary. If the proposal of the deputy is accepted, this will be the first case of mandatory biometrics for banking services in the country.
Russian authorities are counting on mass voluntary biometric data by Russian citizens. The Ministry of Media hopes to increase the number of records in a single biometric system (EBS) to 70 million. At the same time, as of May, there were only 164 thousand records in it.
The main problem remains distrust of the population to biometrics. Citizens are experienced about possible data leaks and illegal use. Deputy head of the Ministry of Finance Alexei Moiseev noted that biometry leakage is able to break the life of a person because it is impossible to change the data.
At the same time, the GROUP-IB Computer Forestry Lab Coach Sergey Zolukhin acknowledged that at present, the receipt of access to biometric data to biometric data is inevitable, since the data stored measures are not enough.
