Czech Republic decided to fight the ban of the European Union on gasoline and diesel fuel for cars, which should come into force from 2035. Prime Minister Andrei Babish shared with the Czech media IDnes News, which will protect the country’s automotive industry – a key economy.
“We will not agree with the ban on the sale of cars on internal combustion engines. We cannot dictate the rules that have come up with” green “fanatics in the European Parliament,” said the head of the Czech government. Babish hopes that in the second half of 2022 – when the Czech Republic will lead the EU Council – he will be able to disrupt the obligatory refusal of the block countries from the fossil fuel.
Prime Minister noted that the Czech Republic will develop infrastructure for electric vehicles, but is not going to invest in the production of electrocars. Babish considers them inaccessible for ordinary luxury people. The automotive industry accounts for almost a third of the Czech economy, and the most famous representative is Skoda AUTO.
The European Commission suggested from 2035 to prohibit production on the territory of the European Union of cars on traditional fuel and go completely to electric vehicles. Tightening standards is associated with the desire of countries by 2050 to stop polluting the atmosphere with carbon dioxide to delay global warming.
Andrei Babish does not confess the citizens of the Czech Republic. In 2019, protests were held in the country demanding to send Prime Minister to resign, and in 2021 politics accused of frauds with the EU subsidies. The investigation concerns the Agrofert holding previously owned him, which illegally received payments for small business, which is not.
