Lithuanian customs refused to skip the batch of spare parts for BELAZ dump trucks, which the Belarusian plant tried to send to export through the port of Klaipeda. This is stated in the report of Lithuanian customs.
Problems began with the party, which was supposed to go to Chile, where Belarusian techniques are used. However, the cargo, as indicated in the customs, falls under the sanctions of the European Union in relation to enterprises close to the regime of the President of Alexander Lukashenko. Currently, the issue of further fate of 18 containers with spare parts is being resolved.
Sanctions against a number of Belarusian enterprises were introduced after the forced landing of the Ryanair aircraft, on board which was the oppositionist, one of the founders of the Telegram channel NEXTA Roman Protasevich.
The European Union approved pressure measures at the end of June, and the United States has prepared its own on August 9. They timed sanctions to the anniversary of the beginning of mass protests in the republic, which were associated with the alleged falsifications in the presidential election.
Among other things, Washington put hard restrictions for the export of potash fertilizers – the main export product of Belarus. Sanctational formulations are such that from December 2021 Minsk will lose opportunities to supply fertilizers through Lithuanian ports. The Republic will have to reorient the flows into Russian ports, but they are much more expensive, and in addition, individual money is worth the preparation of infrastructure.
Western sanctions affected the cooperation of Minsk with China. Thus, Chinese lenders refused to translate the next tranche of a loan for the construction of a potash mining and processing complex, which are engaged in the structures of the Russian billionaire Mikhail Gutseriev. The latter fell into a sanction list for proximity to Lukashenko.
