Russia and Pakistan are close to launching the construction of the Pakistan Flow gas pipeline, there are only a few questions. This was announced in an interview with RIA Novosti, the ambassador of the Islamic Republic in Russia Shafkat Ali Khan.
According to him, negotiations before signing the agreement lasted several years, and recently there was significant progress. Several rounds of technical advice took place, including the discussion of the financial issue. In fact, it remains during one or two meetings to coordinate the last details, and construction can be started.
Ali Khan stressed that the highway will have a significant impact on future investment in the country. He did not disclose any details of the project, but confirmed that Islamabad is very optimistic.
Pakistani Stream should bind the port city of Karachi, the largest in Pakistan, with Lahore at the other end of the country, where power plants operating on a liquefied natural gas (LNG) will be built. The parties affixed the parties back in 2015, but only in May 2021 a document on the practical implementation of the project was signed.
The Minister of Energy of Russia Anatoly Yanovsky estimated the expenses of Russian companies on the Pakistan Flow in the amount of 1.5-2 billion dollars. Pakistani side must take 75 percent of financing.
