Protection of chariot and sign appealed against sentence in Supreme Court

The protection of the Belarusian oppositionists of Mary Kolesnikova and Maxim sign, convicted of 11 and 10 years of imprisonment, respectively, appealed against the sentence in the Supreme Court. This is reported on the site of the ex-head Belgazprombank Viktor Babarico.

Appeals were filed on September 16. The date of the appellate instance is still unknown.

“The complaints submitted today can be called” preliminary “. There is an opportunity to present arguments in an additional appeal no later than 5 days before the start of the court session. Also in court can be given the petitions,” said the lawyer Vladimir Dustchenko.

The sentence of chariot and the sign was made on September 6. They were accused of conspiracy with the aim of capturing the power and creating an extremist formation.

In 2020, Kolesnikova was the head of the election headquarters of Babarico, who was considered the chief rival of the current president of Alexander Lukashenko for the chair of the head of state. Two months before the vote, Babarico was arrested. His headquarters supported the candidacy of Svetlana Tikhanovsky – the wife of a popular blogger, also imprisoned.

Voting took place on August 9th. The CEC announced that Lukashenko scored 80 percent. It caused mass protests throughout the country that continued for several months. Kolesnikova and the sign entered the Presidium of the Coordination Council of the Opposition.
