Global tensions led to the need for power resolution of conflicts. This was stated by the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko during the session of the CSTO Collective Security Council in Dushanbe, BelTA reports.
According to him, some countries still violate the norms of international law, which leads to destabilization of the situation in different regions of the world. “Unfortunately, it has to be stated that this year did not contribute to improving the international situation,” said Lukashenko.
The Belarusian leader noted that in this background, the growth of military budgets and the destruction of the arms control system cause an alarm. He explained that the lack of a constructive agenda in this area also contributes to the risks of the exacerbation of the military-political situation in the world.
Politician also called on the West after the events in Afghanistan to refuse the ubiquitous promotion of “reference” democratic values. “What are these values and what democracy, we recently saw on the example of Afghanistan, and not only,” he concluded, hinting at the involvement of European countries to the formation of the Belarusian opposition.
Earlier, Lukashenko said that the United States is trying to use an unstable situation in Afghanistan to put pressure on Russia and China. The politician found that the situation established in the country contributes to the “heating situation” in Central Asia and the Xinjiang Uigur Autonomous Area.
