Deputies of the Kazakh Mazhilis (Lower House of Parliament) in the first reading approved a bill on the protection of the rights of children. It is reported by “Sputnik Kazakhstan”.
According to the deputy Dinar Zakiyeva, the document is aimed at ensuring the rights of children for housing, as well as the protection of the child’s interests in family relations and the prevention of the emergence of unlawful content on the network. In particular, it provides for the addition of legislation, which, according to parliamentarians, will protect minors from cyberbulling.
So, the bill obliges foreign social networks or messengers to open a legal entity and pass the state registration in Kazakhstan. A citizen of the republic should lead the branch. In the event that six months after the adoption of the law, foreign social networks and messengers will not register, their activities in the country will be limited.
May 9, 2019 in Kazakhstan all day have been blocked access to Facebook, Instagram, Telegram, YouTube and a number of major news sites. On the eve, the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic warned citizens that “agitation to participate on May 9 in illegal rallies is held in social networks and messengers”, and called on “not to succumb to provocations.”
