A group of Japanese researchers has created a robotic arm Auglimb. The development of scientists of Tokyo University and the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology can be the “third hand”, which will make it easier for manual labor. It is reported by the TECH Xplore portal.
Development is designed to expand the possibilities of the human body, said Haoran CE, one of the creators of Auglimb. Artificial limb can capture objects at a distance of up to 250 millimeters.
According to se, Auglimb is characterized by compactness. Thus, the device can develop, which will allow without restrictions to perform ordinary movements with hands. Also, a robotic hand has a low weight, due to which children can use it, as well as elderly people.
In this case, in the unfolded state, a robotic hand in two and a half times longer than the forearm of the average person. The design of the manipulator has seven degrees of freedom, which allows the use of AUGLIMB in various fields of activity. The details of the manipulator are made on a conventional 3D printer, stressed CE.
Auglimb can facilitate the performance of work that requires frequent manipulations. The creators of an artificial hand believe that their device can be useful in medicine, in production and in everyday life.
Now the prototype of a robotic hand is tested. AUGLIMB control occurs manually, but the developers are studying alternative ways to control. So, to control a robotic hand plan to apply the methods of electroencephalography, which will allow the manipulator to read certain signals of the brain, summarized the se.
Earlier, the Chinese company Xpeng Motors presented a robotic horse. The device obtained four legs and face in which cameras and lidars are built. A robotic horse that is positioned as a toy can carry a person and communicate with its owner.
