President of Ecuador Guillermo Lasso proposed to build integration processes between the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean on the principle of the European Union. With such a statement, he spoke at the opening of the community summit of Latin America and the Caribbean (CELAC), reports TASS.
According to him, first of all it is necessary to develop economic integration, and only then political, since then the countries of the region will have a common market that allows you to increase wealth and attract the attention of the whole world. In addition, the Ecuadorian leader called on the heads of Latin American countries to abandon ideological disagreements and build relations on a pragmatic basis. Lasso is confident that it was that that approach allowed his republic to achieve success in vaccination against coronavirus, thanks to “hurdled cooperation with China, Russia, the United States and individual countries of the European Union.”
In July, the President of Mexico Andres Manuel Lopez Ordor spoke with a similar appeal. He noted that the old model of relations between all American countries was already exhausted, she has no future. At the same time, Lopez Ordor reported that Latin American states should unite in the semblance of the European Union, but attached to their history, reality and identity.
